This summer marks a major transition for West Ham United as they look to reshape their squad under Graham Potter’s leadership.
As reported by Hammers News, the club is focused on “reinventing” the team by targeting youthful, ambitious players with future resale value—a strategy Potter and recruitment chief Kyle Macaulay successfully employed during their time at Brighton.
In line with that vision, West Ham are moving on from several experienced players in their 30s and are set to announce the signing of teenage sensation Daniel Cummings.
The 19-year-old forward recently rejected a new contract at Celtic, despite being a lifelong fan of the Scottish champions and spending 13 years at the club.
Cummings was spotted at the London Stadium weeks ago and is expected to be unveiled officially soon.
Cummings confirmed his Celtic departure on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the club, coaches, staff, and teammates, stating:

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, clearly disappointed with the departure, had tried to retain Cummings, with reports suggesting the club held serious contract talks. Celtic are set to receive around £250,000 in compensation.
Rodgers explained the difficulties young players face at big clubs like Celtic, where breaking into the first team is challenging without exceptional ability.
Cummings played just 11 minutes of senior football, a point Rodgers touched on in May.
He emphasized the need for patience and trust in development systems, citing the contrast between early bloomers like Raheem Sterling and late developers like Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Rodgers also hinted at the influence of agents in such moves, suggesting some players may be swayed to leave prematurely.
Nevertheless, West Ham appear to be the beneficiaries of Cummings’ ambition, adding one of the UK’s top teenage prospects to their ranks as their squad overhaul gets underway.
