“Leeds United’s SHOCKING Mega-Deal with 12-Goal Winger Will Leave Fans Speechless! – Mike McGrath”

Leeds United Secure New Deal for Dan James to Extend Stay Beyond 2026

Leeds United have plenty of work to do in terms of strengthening their squad, but securing the futures of key players is just as vital during this transfer window.

Following the confirmation of Junior Firpo’s departure on a free transfer earlier this week, attention has shifted towards contract renewals.

Several players are entering the final year of their current deals, making it a crucial time for the club’s hierarchy.

One of those players is Dan James, who originally signed a five-year contract when he joined from Manchester United in 2021 during Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure.

That deal was set to expire in 2026, but James has now agreed fresh terms to remain at Elland Road beyond that point.

According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, the Wales international has signed a new long-term contract, although the exact length remains undisclosed.

It’s believed his new deal may include adjusted wages, reflective of the club’s revised wage structure under 49ers Enterprises.

That shift in approach played a part in Firpo’s exit, with the club unwilling to match his previous salary demands.

James enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign, scoring 12 goals and registering nine assists, which earned him a nomination for the Championship Player of the Season.

At 26, he’s entering his prime years, and Leeds have acted wisely to avoid the risk of losing him for free next summer.

Whether James will be a nailed-on starter in the Premier League remains to be seen, but his qualities—particularly his pace and relentless pressing—will be hugely valuable for a team likely to face stronger opposition most weeks.

Securing his future is a major step forward for Leeds. Letting him walk away for nothing would have been a significant setback, but with this new deal in place, the club can now focus on other priorities with added confidence.
