After a string of early setbacks in the transfer market, Newcastle United and PIF are growing confident of landing one of their top summer targets, having now reportedly submitted a fresh £55 million bid.

Turning Newcastle’s Summer Around

Newcastle’s summer window got off to a frustrating start. The club initially tried to secure Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, but reports suggest he has chosen Manchester United instead.

Soon after, Joao Pedro, another key target, completed a switch from Brighton to Chelsea, leaving the Magpies scrambling for alternatives.

However, the club has since recalibrated its approach. Fresh targets have emerged, and Newcastle appear to be closing in on a long-standing objective—James Trafford.

The England U21 goalkeeper is expected to finalize his move to St James’ Park soon.

With the attack also in need of reinforcements, Newcastle have reportedly identified Mohammed Kudus and Harvey Elliott as strong backup options.

Kudus could depart West Ham this summer amid growing interest, while Elliott is believed to be considering a move away from Liverpool to secure regular first-team football.

But despite their links to Kudus and Elliott, Newcastle’s breakthrough could come elsewhere.

Fresh Bid for Anthony Elanga

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle have submitted a fresh £55 million offer for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga.

PIF are keen to finalise the deal “as soon as possible,” with strong belief inside the club that they’ll secure the Swedish international, who has 22 senior caps.

The bid marks a significant step forward, and Newcastle believe Forest will accept the proposal.

Should Elanga and Trafford both arrive this summer, it would represent a major turnaround for the club after their earlier frustrations in the market.

Elanga’s arrival in particular would inject excitement into the fanbase. A dynamic and direct winger, the former Manchester United player impressed for Forest last season and was described as “special” by his manager, Nuno Espirito Santo.

If Eddie Howe can integrate Elanga into a forward line featuring Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, Newcastle could boast one of the most electric attacking trios in the Premier League.
