Tottenham Hotspur have already been active in the transfer market, completing permanent deals for Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso.

According to TBR Football, Spurs have made an enquiry about Genoa centre-back Koni De Winter. The 23-year-old Belgian international is reportedly valued at €25 million (£20 million).

De Winter made headlines when he became the youngest player to start a Champions League match for Juventus, appearing against Malmo in December 2021 at just 19 years and 179 days old.

His performance earned plaudits from senior figures at the club. Bonucci stated: “Koni had a good game, he played with personality.

We saw him in London against Chelsea — he has no fear, which will serve him well. He must stay humble; he has huge potential and a full career ahead.”

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri also praised De Winter, saying: “He’s more of a central defender but can play full-back too. He showed great personality — I’m very happy with his performance.”

Before the game, club vice-president Pavel Nedved said: “De Winter? He’s calm and relaxed. I believe he can become a top player.”

Now at Genoa, De Winter enjoyed a strong 2023–24 season, featuring in 26 matches and scoring three goals. A hamstring injury mid-season limited his appearances.

Known for his height, strength, technical skill, and versatility, De Winter is capable of performing both in central defence and in more advanced roles.

Tottenham have previously enjoyed success recruiting from Serie A, and they’ll be hoping that if this move materialises, it will be another smart acquisition from the Italian league.
