Tottenham Hotspur are considering a summer move for Sunderland full-back Dennis Cirkin, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

The North London club are reportedly working behind the scenes to re-sign the 23-year-old left-back as they look to strengthen their homegrown player quota ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Cirkin, who originally came through the ranks at Tottenham, has impressed during his time at Sunderland and is seen as a reliable back-up to current first-choice Destiny Udogie.

He played a pivotal role in the Black Cats’ promotion campaign last season.

Spurs are said to have held preliminary talks over a deal for Cirkin, who could be allowed to depart the Stadium of Light this summer.

Bailey claims Sunderland are prepared to part ways with Cirkin and have already lined up potential replacements.

The Championship side are close to finalising a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Reinildo and are also in discussions to sign Malvin Bard from Nice.

Cirkin joined Sunderland from Tottenham in 2021, having never made a senior appearance for the Lilywhites.

Since then, he’s made 116 appearances for the Wearsiders, scoring eight goals and recording six assists.

Tottenham have already secured the signings of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel on permanent deals and are continuing their transfer business under new manager Thomas Frank.

The club are now reportedly targeting further attacking reinforcements.

Talks are ongoing with West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, with Spurs believed to be preparing a £60 million bid for the Ghanaian international as they aim to add firepower to their squad for the upcoming campaign.
