Tottenham Hotspur have seen their opening bid for West Ham star Mohammed Kudus turned down, but the player has reportedly given the green light to a move to north London.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Kudus is keen to join new Spurs head coach Thomas Frank’s squad, with personal terms already agreed.
So far this summer, Tottenham have wrapped up three signings. Luka Vuskovic has arrived from Hajduk Split, while Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel have made their loan moves permanent.
In terms of outgoings, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has joined Marseille, and both Fraser Forster and Sergio Reguilon have left the club on free transfers.
Despite finishing 17th last season, Spurs are in a strong position to retain key players thanks to their Champions League qualification.
With Frank now in charge following his switch from Brentford to replace Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are aiming to build a stronger squad for the upcoming campaign.
One of the club’s top targets is attacking midfielder Kudus, who is also on the radar of Chelsea and Newcastle United.
However, Romano has confirmed that the Ghanaian is focused solely on a move to Spurs.
Romano posted on X: “Understand Mohammed Kudus is not talking to any other club at this stage: he wants Tottenham move.
Kudus already said yes to Spurs project and club-to-club talks with West Ham will continue soon. Clear intention is to join Spurs. #THFC.”
Speaking further on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed: “Tottenham made the first proposal to West Ham for Kudus.
It was rejected, as West Ham weren’t willing to accept the initial £50m offer. However, Tottenham plan to return with another bid in the coming days.
“Thomas Frank has also approved Kudus as a crucial summer target. Spurs are prepared to push ahead for the deal, and from the player’s side, everything is already in place.”
Romano added that Kudus’ desire to join Spurs is a significant boost for the club as they look to add top-level talent this summer.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has shared his view on Kudus, acknowledging the midfielder’s potential despite some inconsistent displays.
“There’s no doubt he’s a quality player who should be playing for a team closer to the top of the table,” Carragher said in May.
“But one of the reasons West Ham struggled this season is that he didn’t replicate his previous form.”
