Newcastle United are reportedly showing strong interest in signing Chelsea defender Axel Disasi this summer.

The French centre-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he made just seven appearances under Unai Emery.

Despite limited game time at Villa, Disasi remains a player of interest for several clubs, with Newcastle now being heavily linked with a move.

Disasi joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in 2023 for £38.5 million and has made 61 appearances for the Blues across all competitions.

Newcastle had previously been linked with the player before his move to Stamford Bridge.

Although he played regularly in his debut season, Disasi lost his place under new manager Enzo Maresca, eventually going on loan to Villa in January.

Reports suggest Chelsea are open to offloading Disasi this summer, and French outlet RMC Sport has stated that both Newcastle and Villarreal are keen on securing his signature.

Chelsea are said to be targeting a €30 million (£25.9m) fee for the 26-year-old, despite that figure being significantly lower than what they paid a year ago.

Strengthening central defence remains a key priority for Newcastle this window. The Magpies have also been linked with Marc Guehi, Jarrell Quansah, Joe Gomez, and Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini.

However, Scalvini appears to be an unlikely option due to Atalanta’s reluctance to sell and a reported price tag exceeding £60 million—far more than Newcastle are willing to pay.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are under pressure to raise approximately £60 million in player sales to comply with UEFA’s financial regulations.

Players like Djordje Petrovic, Noni Madueke, and Disasi are among those reportedly being made available, while Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are also expected to depart on permanent deals.

In other transfer developments, Newcastle are close to finalising the signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest, following earlier delays linked to intermediary complications.

Additionally, midfielder Sean Longstaff is set for a £12 million switch to Leeds United as the club looks to generate funds before his contract expires next summer.
