West Ham United’s transfer activity has kicked into gear with the signing of promising wing-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague for up to £23 million.

This move came shortly after the £54.5 million sale of Mohammed Kudus, providing much-needed funds for Graham Potter’s squad rebuild.

Potter and recruitment chief Kyle Macaulay are now working swiftly after a quiet opening seven weeks of the window.

West Ham are set to announce their second summer signing, Kyle Walker-Peters, who chose the Hammers over Besiktas after his release from Southampton.

The 28-year-old will sign a three-year deal, providing depth alongside Diouf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, securing the full-back positions for the foreseeable future.

Attention has now shifted to midfield reinforcements. Potter has told one current midfielder to find a new club and is targeting two replacements.

However, doubts remain over Areola’s form and hefty £120k-per-week wage. With Espanyol reportedly interested, West Ham remain open to offers.

The club previously missed out on goalkeepers Djorde Petrovic and Caoimhín Kelleher, while talks for Robert Sanchez fell through.

Now, West Ham have identified Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen as their top goalkeeping target, following advice from incoming goalkeeping coach Casper Ankergren, who worked with Hermansen at Brondby.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has reported that Leicester are close to signing veteran keeper Asmir Begovic, suggesting they are preparing for Hermansen’s departure.

The Foxes already have Jakub Stolarczyk, a highly rated 25-year-old, making it unlikely they’ll keep three senior goalkeepers.

West Ham reportedly prefer a loan deal with an obligation to buy Hermansen to spread the cost of his £20 million fee and preserve funds for other positions.

His name also appeared in the club’s announcement of Ankergren, reinforcing their interest.

With Leicester closing in on Begovic, all signs point to West Ham making Hermansen their third major signing of the window.
