Leeds United are actively exploring the transfer market and have joined the race to sign a prolific forward who has scored over 250 senior goals, according to a new report.
Leeds Hunting for a Proven Goalscorer
For any newly promoted side, survival in the Premier League hinges on having a reliable striker—and Leeds United are well aware of that.
Manager Daniel Farke is prioritising reinforcements up front, with Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz emerging as a top target to bring a proven attacking threat to Elland Road.
Meanwhile, Patrick Bamford’s future at the club appears all but over. Coventry City have expressed interest in the forward after he was told he’s no longer part of Leeds’ plans for the upcoming season.
This departure further highlights the club’s urgency to secure new firepower.
Speaking about Bamford’s situation, Farke explained:
“I had a very open and honest conversation with Patrick. I rate him highly as a player and would have loved to have had a fully fit Bamford over the past two seasons.
But he needs to be the main man, someone who gets support and confidence.
I wasn’t willing to promise him that role at Premier League level. On the second day of pre-season, I brought him into my office and told him directly that he doesn’t feature in my plans.”
With Lukas Nmecha also being monitored, Leeds are clearly in the hunt for a new frontman—and they may have found an ideal option.
Mehdi Taremi Now a Leeds Target
As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Leeds are among the clubs eyeing Inter Milan’s Mehdi Taremi.
The 33-year-old Iranian striker, who boasts an impressive 255 career goals, is also attracting interest from Fulham, West Ham, and Brazilian club Botafogo—who are preparing a £7.84 million offer.
Although Taremi’s representatives are reportedly in talks over a potential South American move, there is no indication yet of direct negotiations with Leeds.
Taremi, described as “excellent” by former Iran international Rahman Rezaei, has been granted extra time to consider his future.
He has yet to return to pre-season training following a campaign that saw him score three goals and register six assists in 43 appearances.
With his stint in Italy seemingly drawing to a close, Elland Road could offer the experienced striker a fresh challenge—and at a cut-price fee, he may be a shrewd acquisition for Leeds, provided he can rediscover his scoring form.
