West Ham United Push for “Commanding” International Keeper Following Wilson Signing

West Ham United have made an official approach to sign highly-rated Japan international Zion Suzuki, but their bid has already been knocked back.

The move comes shortly after West Ham confirmed their fifth signing of the summer—experienced striker Callum Wilson.

The England forward joins the club on a 12-month deal after leaving Newcastle United, bringing with him a wealth of Premier League experience.

Wilson boasts 111 goal involvements in 239 league appearances and is seen as a valuable addition to Graham Potter’s squad.

Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen has been strongly linked, and now Zion Suzuki of Parma has re-emerged as a target.

According to reports from Italy, relayed by Sport Witness, West Ham made a formal approach to Parma regarding Suzuki. However, their initial enquiry was swiftly rejected.

The Serie A outfit considers Suzuki a vital part of their future plans, with the 22-year-old tied down until 2029.

Suzuki, valued at around €30 million (£26 million), is unlikely to leave unless West Ham meet that asking price.

The Japanese international has impressed with his performances, having once ranked in the 100th percentile for key metrics such as shot-stopping, aerial duels, and goal-line exits.

He also placed in the 99th percentile for distribution, making him one of the most complete young keepers in Europe.

Described in the media as a “commanding” presence between the posts, Suzuki could represent an intelligent and ambitious addition if the Hammers choose to return with an improved bid.
