The sticking point for all interested parties was Hull’s firm £5 million valuation. Neither Middlesbrough, Leicester, nor Bremen were willing or able to meet that figure, and as a result, they have now turned their attentions elsewhere.

For Jakirovic, this development is a major boost ahead of the next four months, during which transfer activity will be restricted exclusively to emergency loans and free agents.

It also helps that Pandur is reportedly happy in HU3. Despite the ongoing financial uncertainty that looms over the MKM Stadium, the Croatian is settled and has shown no desire to push for a move.

That loyalty will only strengthen his bond with the fanbase, who already hold him in high regard.

More importantly, his presence should improve Hull’s prospects of climbing the Championship table following last year’s underwhelming campaign.

While he has conceded seven goals in his last two outings against Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers, Pandur remains a dependable and proven Championship-level goalkeeper.

Considering Hull’s lack of depth behind him—with only new signing Dillon Phillips providing senior competition—it would have been a considerable risk to cash in unless a truly irresistible offer had arrived.
