It’s the dream match for boxing fans everywhere. A former member of Anthony Joshua’s team has weighed in on the possibility of Joshua facing off against Tyson Fury.
With his recent dominating victory over Francis Ngannou, anticipation is at its peak for Joshua to finally go head-to-head with Fury, promising one of the most monumental showdowns in British boxing history.
However, Fury must first navigate past Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming bout in May. If Fury emerges victorious, it could set the stage for the highly anticipated clash.
Richie Woodall, who collaborated with Joshua during the 2012 Olympics, shared his thoughts on this tantalizing fight. While acknowledging Joshua’s recent improvements under Ben Davison, Woodall hesitates to predict the outcome, citing the formidable challenge both fighters pose.
Woodall remarked, “Joshua’s recent performances show significant progress, especially under Ben Davison’s guidance. His knockout of Ngannou was truly impressive. Although Fury faces a tough test against Usyk, his current form suggests a close competition. Personally, I lean towards Fury, given his size advantage over Usyk. Yet, the prospect of Joshua versus Fury remains incredibly exciting, especially with Joshua’s continued improvement under Davison. The division is buzzing with excitement.”
Woodall added, “The outcome hinges on Fury’s performance against Usyk. If he emerges victorious, the odds may tilt in his favor against Joshua. It’s a 50-50 scenario for now, but a Fury victory over Usyk could solidify him as the favorite for a showdown with Joshua.”
