“Marti Cifuentes Goes WILD Over Leicester City’s SHOCKING New Signing, Promises to Revolutionize EVERYTHING!”

Leicester boss Marti Cifuentes reunites with former Sandefjord goalkeeping coach Javi Ortiz at the King Power Stadium

Marti Cifuentes has welcomed Leicester City’s new goalkeeping coach Javi Ortiz, backing him to raise standards across the department after “finally” completing his move.

Ortiz becomes the first coaching addition under Cifuentes since the Spaniard’s arrival with assistant Xavi Calm in July.

He joins from Norwegian side Sandefjord, where he previously worked with Cifuentes.

The pair’s coaching relationship dates back to their early years in Barcelona, before later linking up in Norway. After five years apart, they have reunited at City.

The club had been pursuing Ortiz for some time, but his switch was delayed, meaning lead academy goalkeeping coach Glyn Thompson stepped in to oversee Jakub Stolarczyk and the senior keepers during the opening months of the season.

Speaking on Ortiz’s appointment, Cifuentes said: “We’re very happy with Glyn and the work he has done since I joined, helping us while we were waiting to bring Javi in.

I know him well from Barcelona and Norway, and I believe he will add a lot of experience and knowledge in this position.

“He will bring a working methodology that can benefit the whole club as we look to keep improving in this area. We’re happy he is here now, even if it’s a little later than we hoped.

I also want to thank Sandefjord for their support in making this possible. I’m sure he will help our three senior keepers, as well as those in the academy, to keep developing.”

Ortiz now joins Calm, first-team coach Andy King, and set-piece coach Andrew Hughes on Cifuentes’ backroom team.

That may well be the full staff group, with Cifuentes clarifying when asked about further additions: “Not at the moment.”
