Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly taken the lead in the race to sign a Serie A striker who has already scored four goals this season.
Injury problems have limited Thomas Frank’s attacking options this season, with the Tottenham boss having to rely almost exclusively on Richarlison and Mathys Tel.
As a result, reports suggest Spurs are keen to bring in a new number nine during the January transfer window.
It was revealed earlier this month that an experienced Serie A striker has been offered to Tottenham and several other Premier League clubs, and the North London side could now have an advantage in the transfer battle.
That player is Dusan Vlahovic, the Juventus forward who is also attracting interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
According to a new report from TEAMtalk, Spurs may have the upper hand thanks to the return of Fabio Paratici as sporting director.
Paratici, who previously worked at Juventus, maintains strong connections within the Italian club’s hierarchy.
Those links could prove crucial, as he is reportedly looking to use his relationships in Turin to help Tottenham secure the signing of the Serbian striker.
Vlahovic, formerly of Fiorentina, has recorded 62 goals and 15 assists in 154 appearances for Juventus.
He is now entering the final year of his contract, meaning he can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside Italy from January.
However, Juventus are said to prefer selling him for a transfer fee rather than losing him for free next summer.
TEAMtalk adds that an offer in the region of €15 million (£13 million) could be enough to convince the Serie A giants to part ways with their star forward.
If Tottenham can capitalise on Paratici’s influence and Juventus’ willingness to sell, they may finally secure the reliable centre-forward that Frank’s side have lacked this season.
