Tottenham’s injury woes deepen as another key player undergoes surgery after setback on international duty
Tottenham Hotspur are currently facing a major injury crisis, with nine first-team players sidelined — including key figures Cristian Romero, James Maddison, and Dejan Kulusevski.
Some of those on the treatment table are yet to feature under Thomas Frank, who only took charge in the summer.
Among them is Yves Bissouma, who suffered an injury during his first competitive appearance of the season while representing Mali in this month’s international break.
The midfielder was stretchered off in the second half of Mali’s win over Madagascar after appearing to twist his left ankle in severe pain.
Bissouma has since provided an update on his condition via social media, confirming that he underwent ankle surgery following the setback. The 28-year-old shared on Instagram: “Everything went well.
I thank God for everything that happens to me. Everything happens for a reason. I’m simply following my destiny. Grateful to God for His protection.”
The injury could have wider implications for his future at Tottenham. Bissouma is entering the final year of his contract, and reports suggest the club plan to sell him in the January transfer window.
Several clubs are believed to be monitoring his situation closely, hoping to strike a deal.
However, Tottenham now face the possibility that his recovery could hinder any potential move, making it difficult for the club to recoup a transfer fee for the midfielder midway through the season.
