Rafael Devers Update On Shoulder Issue

After the Red Sox’s 1-0 defeat to the Mariners, Rafael Devers, sidelined from Friday’s lineup due to left shoulder soreness, provided an update on his condition.

Expressing caution, Devers mentioned feeling slight soreness in his shoulder and emphasized the importance of prudent management, especially early in the season. He stressed the need to prioritize short-term rest over risking a prolonged absence.

While Devers didn’t rule out the possibility of playing on Saturday, he indicated that his decision would hinge on his improved comfort level.

discomfort in Devers’ shoulder originated during spring training, particularly during batting practice sessions against the pitching machine. Initially manageable in Fort Myers, the pain gradually worsened, prompting Devers to exercise caution and withdraw from the lineup.

Reflecting on his impactful performance in the season opener, Devers attributed the onset of discomfort to the variability of the pitching machine’s offerings, which occasionally caught him off guard, leading to the subsequent soreness.
