Reports indicate that Tottenham Hotspur have shifted their focus toward a new primary transfer target as their pursuit of Ivan Toney faces “two significant obstacles.”
Tottenham were always expected to be aggressive in the market ahead of Thomas Frank’s first season in charge and their return to Champions League football.
They delivered on that expectation with several high-profile signings, including Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha, Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons.

Since Frank’s arrival, Spurs have generally shown more structure and resilience than they did under Ange Postecoglou.

However, their progress has been overshadowed by poor showings in key fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal.
Sunday’s 4-1 derby defeat to their north London rivals highlighted long-standing issues and invited criticism from supporters and pundits alike.
A major concern remains in attack, where Tottenham have struggled to compensate for the departure of Harry Kane.
Neither Kolo Muani, Dominic Solanke nor Richarlison has yet proven capable of consistently leading the line at the level the club requires.

With the Toney move looking increasingly difficult, Spurs may be forced to pursue alternatives.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims that Porto’s rising star Samu Aghehowa—who previously came close to signing for Chelsea—has emerged as a standout candidate.
Tavolieri notes that Tottenham regard Aghehowa as an ideal fit for Frank’s system, pointing to the manager’s track record of elevating strikers such as Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins during his stint at Brentford.
According to the report, Spurs could soon make a serious move for Aghehowa as they look to finally address the attacking void left by Harry Kane.
