West Ham United have reportedly submitted an enquiry for Union Saint-Gilloise striker Promise David as uncertainty grows around Niclas Fullkrug’s future at the London Stadium.
Since early November, West Ham’s attacking performances have taken a noticeable upturn.
The Hammers have netted eight goals across their last three Premier League matches, with Callum Wilson rediscovering his scoring touch by striking three times in his previous two appearances.
His most recent contribution came in the form of a first-half double against AFC Bournemouth, seemingly placing Nuno Espírito Santo’s men on course for a valuable win.
However, the Cherries mounted a spirited comeback, and West Ham ultimately let a two-goal advantage slip—a result that will surely frustrate the manager.
Still, Wilson’s resurgence in front of goal is a major positive, particularly as Fullkrug’s long-term future remains in serious doubt.
Earlier this month, Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed that the German striker could be set to move on, leaving West Ham bracing for potential changes.
West Ham enquire about Promise David
With Wilson’s contract expiring at the end of the season and the 33-year-old approaching the latter stages of his career, the club have begun exploring their options for a new centre-forward.
According to Claret & Hugh, the Hammers have now made initial contact over a possible deal for Promise David, the highly rated Union Saint-Gilloise attacker.
The report adds that chief analyst Max Hahn is particularly enthusiastic about recruiting talent from the Belgian Pro League.
David, who remains tied to the Belgian side until 2030, is in a strong contractual position, meaning Union SG are under no pressure to sell.
Even so, there are indications that he may be worth a significant investment.
The 24-year-old Canadian international has made an excellent start to the current campaign, scoring eight goals across all competitions so far.
Notably, he marked his Champions League debut with a goal in a 3-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in September.
His performances have also drawn praise from respected scout Jacek Kulig, who labelled him “outstanding” earlier this year.
David went on to finish the previous season with an impressive tally of 24 goals in all competitions, highlighting his consistent ability in front of goal.
With Fullkrug seemingly edging towards the exit and concerns lingering over Wilson’s injury record—after extended spells on the sidelines over the past two seasons—West Ham may feel that securing a new striker in January is essential.
While signing David would carry risk given his lack of experience in a top European league, his prolific record in Belgium offers considerable encouragement.
