As reported by Hammers News, West Ham have submitted an initial offer for Al-Hilal striker Marcos Leonardo, though the Saudi Pro League side have rejected the proposal.
The Hammers are described as “desperate” to bring in a new No.9, and the 22-year-old Brazilian sits high on Nuno’s list of preferred targets.
Leonardo rose to prominence at Santos, graduating from their storied academy before breaking into the senior team in 2020.
He scored 54 goals in 168 appearances for the club, earning a move to Benfica, where he added eight goals in 24 outings.
His time in Portugal was brief, as Al-Hilal secured his signature last September on a lucrative deal running until 2029.
Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, Leonardo has been in exceptional form, scoring 37 goals in 52 matches — including 11 in just 14 games this season.
Al-Hilal have reportedly turned down West Ham’s opening bid and are holding out for a significantly higher fee.
The club remain reluctant to part ways with such a key player, with former Benfica boss Roger Schmidt previously hailing him as a “quality” striker.
