Everton set for January squad overhaul as several starters face losing their places.

While strengthening the attack remains a priority, David Moyes is also searching for defensive reinforcements, with Real Betis centre-back Natan emerging as a target.
The injury to Jarrad Branthwaite has left the Toffees short at the back, forcing Moyes to consider multiple additions, including a potential new left-back.
Vitalii Mykolenko has retained his position as Everton’s first-choice option on the left side of defence throughout the 2025/26 campaign, with only 19-year-old Adam Aznou providing cover.
The Ukrainian defender has completed the full 90 minutes in each of his last 10 league matches, establishing himself as one of the team’s most relied-upon performers.
However, uncertainty surrounds Mykolenko’s future as his contract runs out in 2026. With no agreement on an extension in sight, Everton could look to secure a long-term replacement—and Antonee Robinson has emerged as a standout candidate.
Valued at around £25 million, the Fulham defender represents exceptional value for a player widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s most complete full-backs.
Everton fans will be painfully familiar with Robinson’s ability, given he was sold to Wigan Athletic for just £2 million back in 2019—an error still remembered on Merseyside.
Bringing him back either in January or during the summer would go some way toward correcting that mistake.
With negotiations over Mykolenko’s future showing little progress, The Friedkin Group must prepare for the possibility of his departure.
Goodison News reports that Everton could consider a deal involving Aznou moving the other way in exchange for Robinson—an option the club would be wise to assess.
Robinson shone in the 2024/25 season, averaging 3.35 progressive carries and 2.7 tackles per match, placing him among the league’s most effective left-backs.
Although a knee injury has sidelined him for the last eight Premier League fixtures, his all-round defensive attributes and attacking threat make him a significant upgrade on Mykolenko.
