Tottenham supporters may be unhappy with Gianluca Di Marzio’s latest update on Fabio Paratici’s potential move to Fiorentina.
Fiorentina are reportedly attempting to lure Tottenham Hotspur’s sporting director Fabio Paratici back to Italy, with discussions between the two parties intensifying over recent days.
Italian sources have suggested that Paratici is edging closer to a return to Serie A with La Viola, although reports from England have painted a slightly different picture.
Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge revealed earlier this week that, as of Tuesday, Fiorentina had yet to formally approach Tottenham about Paratici’s situation.
The Italian remains under contract in north London for another two years, which would require Spurs’ approval before any move could be completed.
However, fresh updates from respected transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio indicate that negotiations have now reached an advanced stage.
According to Di Marzio, Paratici is close to finalising a deal with Fiorentina, who are currently struggling at the foot of the Serie A table, and an announcement could be imminent.
Speaking to Sky Italia, Di Marzio explained that a preliminary agreement has already been reached.
He stated that Paratici has accepted Fiorentina’s contractual proposal, which was brokered by intermediary Alessandro Ferrari in coordination with club president Rocco Commisso.
The next step will involve Paratici holding talks with Tottenham in an attempt to secure permission to leave.
The proposed deal is understood to be a four-and-a-half-year contract that would grant Paratici significant authority over the club’s football operations, reflecting Fiorentina’s long-term commitment to his vision.
Di Marzio added that Paratici has been persuaded by the club’s project and the opportunity to return to Italian football, especially after previous negotiations with AC Milan failed to materialise.
If appointed, he is expected to play an active role in transfer planning alongside head coach Paolo Vanoli and technical director Daniele Goretti, who would remain in his position.
For Tottenham, the potential loss of Paratici represents a major setback at a delicate time.
With the January transfer window approaching, Spurs could be left without a key figure who was viewed internally as a significant asset.
Paratici’s return to the club earlier in the season was considered a major boost due to his experience and extensive network within European football.
