Tottenham Hotspur are exploring the possibility of signing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after agreeing a deal with Crystal Palace to sell Brennan Johnson, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel.

GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed on Tuesday morning that Crystal Palace have agreed a £35m deal to sign Johnson from Spurs.

Everton and Bournemouth are also understood to be interested, while Johnson has yet to decide whether he wants to complete a move to Selhurst Park.

With the potential departure edging closer, Spurs are preparing contingency plans to replace the Wales international, particularly as interest from multiple Premier League sides suggests an exit is increasingly likely.

Tottenham eyeing Diomande as Johnson’s successor

Mokbel reports that Tottenham have begun assessing alternatives following the £35m agreement with Palace, with Diomande emerging as one of several candidates under consideration.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise in the Bundesliga this season, catching the eye with his pace, directness and end product.

Diomande has registered a combined total of eight goals and assists in just ten league starts, underlining his impact despite his relative inexperience.

Widely regarded as one of the brightest young wingers in Europe, he is still viewed as a long-term project with significant upside.

Before his move to Leipzig, Diomande spent last season with Leganes, where he made six starts in La Liga, gaining valuable top-flight exposure.

Johnson, meanwhile, has struggled for consistent minutes at Tottenham, starting only six Premier League matches so far this campaign.

Heavy investment in the squad, coupled with strong competition in wide areas, has limited his opportunities to establish himself as a regular starter.

The arrivals of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus in the summer have further pushed Johnson down the pecking order, making a move appealing for all parties.

For Spurs, accepting Palace’s offer would see them recoup much of their original outlay while freeing up funds to pursue younger, high-ceiling talents such as Diomande.

Although retaining Johnson as depth would offer value, a £35m bid is difficult to ignore, particularly if it accelerates a refresh of the attacking options at the club during the upcoming transfer window in January.
