Youssef En-Nesyri was first touted as a potential Everton target midway through the current winter transfer window, with David Moyes actively scouring the market for a reliable centre-forward to bolster his attacking options.

The Toffees have yet to complete their first signing of the window, and a move for En-Nesyri could represent a significant step as Moyes looks to address Everton’s lack of firepower.

Everton are understood to be exploring the possibility of bringing the Moroccan international to Goodison Park on an initial loan deal, potentially including an obligation to buy.

Such a structure would appeal to the Merseyside club as they attempt to strengthen without committing immediately to a large outlay.

For Moyes, the interest is nothing new. He has long admired En-Nesyri, having previously tried to sign him during his spell as West Ham United manager.

With the striker seemingly open to a move before the 2 February deadline, Moyes may finally have the opportunity to land a player he has tracked for years.

According to a fresh update from respected transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton have received renewed encouragement in their pursuit of the Fenerbahce forward.

Since joining the Turkish giants in the summer of 2024, En-Nesyri has been in impressive goalscoring form.

Data from Sofascore shows he has averaged a goal every 135 minutes this season, underlining his consistency in front of goal.

Overall, the 28-year-old has scored 34 goals in 74 appearances for Fenerbahce, with an eye-catching 30 strikes coming in 52 games last season.

In the current 2025/26 campaign, he has found the net eight times in 25 appearances across all competitions, including seven goals in just 15 Turkish Super Lig outings.

Those numbers, combined with his previous record of 73 goals in 196 games for Sevilla, highlight his pedigree as a proven top-level striker.

Given that form, interest from across Europe is hardly surprising. Di Marzio reports that Everton, Nottingham Forest and Napoli have all made approaches to Fenerbahce to explore the possibility of a deal.

However, Forest may now be out of the race after completing the signing of Lorenzo Lucca from Napoli, potentially removing their need for another striker this winter.

Elsewhere, Juventus have reportedly cooled their interest in Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta after failing to meet Palace’s £35 million valuation.

The Serie A giants have instead held talks with En-Nesyri and are believed to have agreed personal terms with him last week.

Despite that, the striker is said to be unsure about a move to Turin, casting doubt over Juventus’ chances.

A return to Sevilla has also been mentioned as a possibility, but it remains unclear whether En-Nesyri would be keen on a reunion.

With doubts surrounding Juventus, Forest seemingly satisfied, and Sevilla not an obvious step forward, Everton may sense a golden opportunity.

Napoli could pose competition, but they already boast Rasmus Hojlund and Romelu Lukaku, and have recently added Giovane Nascimento.

As such, the path may be clearer than ever for Moyes to make his move.
