Leeds United's Summer Spending Spree Begins with Harry Wilson Agreement

Leeds Continue Transfer Drive After Securing Wilson Deal
Leeds United are pressing ahead with their summer recruitment plans after reportedly winning the race to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Fulham.
The Welsh international attracted interest from several clubs, including Aston Villa, Everton and Benfica, but Leeds appear to have come out on top in the battle for his signature.
Wilson enjoyed a productive campaign for Fulham last season, scoring 11 goals and registering eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
His arrival is expected to add valuable Premier League experience and attacking quality to Daniel Farke’s squad ahead of the new season.
However, Leeds are not stopping there. Reports suggest the club is exploring further additions, with Borussia Dortmund playmaker Julian Brandt and Southampton midfielder Shea Charles among their key targets.
Brandt, who is set to become a free agent when his Dortmund contract expires at the end of June, has emerged as an intriguing option.
The 30-year-old Germany international enjoyed another solid campaign in 2025/26, contributing 11 goals and four assists in 41 appearances.
Since joining Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019, Brandt has made more than 300 appearances, winning the DFB-Pokal and helping the club reach the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League final.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Leeds are keen to bring Brandt to Elland Road following their successful pursuit of Wilson. However, completing such a deal may prove difficult.
Football Insider claims that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Serie A side Roma are currently leading the race for the experienced midfielder, making Leeds outsiders in the battle for his signature despite their interest.
Meanwhile, Leeds remain actively engaged in negotiations for Southampton’s Shea Charles.
The Yorkshire club recently saw a £20 million offer rejected, but discussions between the two clubs are said to be continuing.
Charles enjoyed an impressive season despite Southampton’s disappointing failure to secure promotion through the Championship play-offs.
The 22-year-old Northern Ireland international scored six goals and provided two assists in 38 appearances, underlining his growing influence in midfield.
A product of Manchester City’s academy, Charles previously trained alongside former Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips and has developed into a versatile player capable of operating as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder or right-back.
His adaptability makes him an attractive option for Farke as he looks to strengthen multiple areas of his squad.
While a move for Brandt appears challenging due to strong competition from abroad, Leeds’ continued negotiations with Southampton suggest that a deal for Charles remains a realistic possibility.
At this stage, the midfielder appears the more attainable target as Leeds continue their efforts to build a squad capable of thriving back in the Premier League.
