SHOCK TRANSFER BOMBSHELL: Newcastle DESPERATE to Splash £42M on World Cup WONDERKID Superstar to COMPLETELY REPLACE Tonali! This changes everything for the Toon!

Newcastle United are stepping up their contingency plans as uncertainty continues to surround Sandro Tonali’s future, with the club identifying potential midfield reinforcements should the Italian complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Reports suggest Tonali has made it clear he is keen on joining Spurs, who have already seen two bids worth £75 million rejected by Newcastle.

However, GIVEMESPORT claims the North London club are preparing an improved package valued at around £85 million, an offer that could persuade the Magpies to part ways with one of their most influential players.

Losing Tonali would represent a significant setback for Eddie Howe, given the midfielder’s importance since arriving at St James’ Park.

As a result, Newcastle are actively assessing replacements capable of filling the void if a transfer is finalised.

According to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi has emerged as one of the names under consideration.

The Switzerland international has enhanced his growing reputation with a series of impressive displays at the World Cup, including a brace in a convincing 4-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He also found the net in Switzerland’s 2-1 win against co-hosts Canada, further strengthening his credentials.

Newcastle’s recruitment team is believed to be monitoring central midfield options while Tonali’s situation remains unresolved.

Manzambi is reportedly valued at around £42 million, and with four years still remaining on his Freiburg contract, the Bundesliga club are unlikely to lower their asking price.

The 20-year-old also enjoyed an excellent domestic campaign, making 47 appearances in all competitions while contributing seven goals and nine assists.

Regarded by many as one of Switzerland’s brightest young prospects, Manzambi has earned praise for his versatility, with the ability to operate as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder or even as a second striker.

Although his talent is undeniable, Newcastle may need a more experienced option if Tonali departs.

Replacing a proven performer with a player still developing could leave Howe’s midfield lacking leadership and consistency.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha has also been linked with the Magpies and appears to offer a more immediate solution.

Having previously come through Manchester City’s academy before establishing himself in Germany, Nmecha possesses top-level experience and a playing style that could make the transition smoother.

Manzambi would still represent an exciting long-term signing and provide valuable depth across several midfield roles.

However, Newcastle may ultimately need both a proven starter and a high-potential prospect if they are to cope with the departure of a player of Tonali’s quality.
