PIF ARE UNLEASHED! Newcastle Launch SHOCK £25M Midfielder Raid – Joelinton’s WORST NIGHTMARE Just Got Real! (Opinion) This is the transfer move that could completely blow up Newcastle’s squad… Joelinton fans, you might want to sit down for this one!

Newcastle United could be set for a major midfield rebuild this summer, with Joelinton’s future under increasing scrutiny and Galatasaray star Gabriel Sara emerging as a potential replacement.

Since the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) completed its takeover of Newcastle United in 2022, the club has aimed to establish itself among Europe’s elite.

Although Eddie Howe has guided the Magpies into the Champions League, Newcastle have repeatedly missed out on key transfer targets, slowing their progress.

The club has also lost several important first-team players in lucrative deals, and Joelinton could now become the next high-profile departure.

The Brazilian has been one of Howe’s most influential players since reinventing himself as a central midfielder, but his performances during the 2025/26 campaign raised concerns.

It was arguably his least effective season in midfield, with his passing accuracy dropping to 82%, placing him among the Premier League’s lower-ranked midfielders in that category.

He also surrendered possession more often than any other Newcastle player, averaging 1.2 dispossessions per 90 minutes.

Joelinton remains under contract until 2028, but Newcastle may be tempted to cash in while his value remains relatively high.

At 29, he is entering the latter stages of his peak years, and another inconsistent season could significantly reduce his transfer value. Selling him now would also give the club an opportunity to refresh its midfield.

The need for reinforcements has become even greater following Sandro Tonali’s move to Tottenham Hotspur, while uncertainty continues to surround Bruno Guimaraes’ future.

Newcastle have already missed out on Johan Manzambi after Aston Villa hijacked the deal, but the two clubs are once again expected to compete for another target.

TEAMtalk reports that both Newcastle and Aston Villa have spoken to representatives of Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara, who is eager to return to the Premier League.

Galatasaray are willing to sell the 27-year-old if their reported £25 million valuation is met.

Sara offers a different profile to Joelinton but could provide Newcastle with greater creativity and technical quality.

The Brazilian registered 11 goal contributions during the 2025/26 season and excelled in possession, completing almost twice as many passes as Joelinton while creating three times more chances per 90 minutes.

His average of 2.7 chances created per game ranked among Europe’s elite midfielders, while his excellent crossing and set-piece delivery further strengthen his appeal.

Defensively, Sara is equally industrious, recording more ball recoveries and high-field regains than Joelinton.

His energy, pressing ability and all-round quality make him an ideal fit for Howe’s system.

At £25 million, Newcastle could view him as outstanding value, with his arrival potentially signalling the beginning of Joelinton’s exit from St James’ Park.
