Leeds United Eye Next Summer Signing as Ermedin Demirovic Emerges as Target

Leeds United are continuing to strengthen their squad this summer, and Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirovic has emerged as a serious transfer target.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed an impressive spell in Germany, scoring 43 goals in 87 appearances for Stuttgart across all competitions, giving him an outstanding strike rate of almost one goal every two matches.

According to MOT Leeds News, the Whites are keen on bringing the Bosnia-Herzegovina international to Elland Road.

The report comes shortly after Leeds reportedly moved into pole position to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, highlighting the club’s ambition to reinforce several key areas before the new season.

So far, Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic remain Leeds’ only confirmed summer arrivals, but Daniel Farke is expected to add more quality to his squad in the coming weeks.

Although signing a goalkeeper is the club’s immediate priority, Leeds are also determined to recruit another striker capable of providing genuine competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Sky Sports Germany journalist Patrick Berger reports that Demirovic could be available for between €15 million and €20 million (£12.8m-£17.1m).

While the forward would prefer to remain at Stuttgart, the Bundesliga side reportedly view him as a player they would consider selling if a suitable offer arrives.

Leeds are not alone in the race, however, with Juventus and Fenerbahce also credited with interest in the experienced forward.

Considering Demirovic’s goalscoring record, the reported asking price represents excellent value.

Last season, he netted 12 goals and registered three assists in 25 Bundesliga appearances.

By comparison, Calvert-Lewin scored 14 goals and provided one assist in 35 Premier League matches.

Although Demirovic failed to find the net in four World Cup appearances this summer, his overall Bundesliga record remains highly impressive, with 57 goals in 173 league games.

His tally of 43 goals in 87 matches for Stuttgart underlines why Leeds are monitoring him closely.

If he is available within the reported price range, the Bosnian international could prove to be one of the bargain signings of the summer and provide the clinical finishing Farke’s side have been searching for.
