BOMBSHELL TRANSFER! Leeds on the VERGE of INSANE swap deal — DUMP struggling flop and SNAP UP desperate superstar who’s BEGGING to join!

Leeds United are close to completing their defensive rebuild, with Borussia Mönchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi reportedly on the verge of joining Daniel Farke’s side.

Farke has prioritised strengthening the spine of his squad this summer, while also clearing unwanted players and reducing the wage bill.

Pascal Struijk’s £20m move to Brighton was the biggest departure, while Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow and Maximilian Woeber have also left.

Football FanCast reports that Leeds are preparing to meet Gladbach’s €10m (£8.5m) asking price for Elvedi, with the 29-year-old already agreeing personal terms.

The deal could be finalised next week.

Gladbach had hoped to retain the Switzerland international, with head coach Eugen Polanski recently naming him vice-captain and stressing his importance to the team.

However, Elvedi has chosen to pursue the move to Yorkshire, with Farke’s previous knowledge of the defender from his time in Germany believed to have played a role.

His arrival is also connected to Sebastian Bornauw’s expected departure.

Bornauw, who made only 433 Premier League minutes last season, is reportedly nearing a move to HSV Hamburg, creating space for Elvedi.

Elvedi brings significant experience, having made more than 350 appearances for Gladbach since joining in 2015 and earning 73 Switzerland caps.

His ability to play centrally or at either full-back position provides Farke with valuable defensive versatility.

He is expected to complement the promising Tarik Muharemovic, while Leeds will also hope established players such as Sean Longstaff can continue their impressive pre-season form.
