BREAKING: Leeds in TOTAL MELTDOWN — Forced to DUMP a Player THIS SECOND or Their Next HUGE Signing is OFFICIALLY DEAD! Sky Sports just dropped the bombshell that could blow the transfer window wide open

Leeds United were hoping to complete their fifth signing of the summer after making an impressive start to their Premier League campaign, but their plans have hit a stumbling block.

Daniel Farke’s side must first move one of their existing goalkeepers before they can finalise a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Michael Zetterer.

Leeds began the new season in excellent fashion on Saturday, travelling to the City Ground and recording a dramatic 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Anton Stach proved to be the match-winner, curling home a late free-kick in the 88th minute to give the visitors all three points.

The victory also provided encouraging early signs from several of Leeds’ summer recruits. James Trafford enjoyed a successful competitive debut, keeping a clean sheet as Forest managed only two efforts on target.

Tarik Muharemovic also impressed while operating on the left side of Farke’s back three, while Harry Wilson thought he had marked his debut with a goal before his effort was ruled out.

Another new arrival, Nico Elvedi, was named among the substitutes as Leeds completed a memorable opening-day victory.

However, the club’s pursuit of another goalkeeper has now become complicated.

Leeds had been moving closer to signing Frankfurt’s Michael Zetterer, despite his representatives denying reports last week that the 31-year-old was set to leave Germany.

Zetterer subsequently missed training and travelled to Yorkshire for a medical, suggesting that the transfer was close.

A fee of around €5 million (£4.3m) was reportedly close to being agreed, but developments on Monday indicated that the deal has temporarily stalled.

Sky Germany’s Zinny Boswell reported that both Leeds and Frankfurt must resolve their goalkeeping situations before the transfer can be completed.

For Leeds, that means Lucas Perri needs to leave Elland Road first, while Frankfurt must secure a replacement for Zetterer.

Until those issues are resolved, Leeds cannot officially complete their move for the German goalkeeper.

Zetterer’s ability with the ball at his feet could make him an attractive option for Farke, whose teams traditionally place considerable importance on playing out from the back.

Former Werder Bremen manager Ole Werner previously praised the goalkeeper for remaining composed under intense pressure and being comfortable receiving possession while opponents aggressively press.

Even if the transfer goes ahead, Zetterer could initially find himself playing second fiddle to Trafford.

Leeds invested heavily in the England international during the summer, and his assured display against Forest offered plenty of encouragement.

Zetterer’s arrival would almost certainly spell the end of Perri’s time at Leeds.

The Brazilian was among the substitutes at the City Ground but has already been linked with a departure, and the German goalkeeper would effectively arrive as his replacement.
