West Ham United and Nottingham Forest are vying to sign Le Havre AC’s Étienne Youté Kinkoué during the summer transfer window, according to a French report.
The centre-back joined Le Havre from Olympiacos in January 2023 and has since made 29 appearances, including 22 in the recently concluded season.
L’Equipe reports that several English clubs, including West Ham and Nottingham Forest, have scouted the 22-year-old in action for Le Havre.
West Ham’s interest in Youté Kinkoué is not new, as they attempted to sign him in January. The Hammers may make another bid this summer.
Nottingham Forest’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Olympiacos, is familiar with the player, potentially giving Forest an edge. However, it’s unclear if this connection will improve their chances of signing him.
Youté Kinkoué has one year left on his contract and could depart Le Havre this summer. Besides West Ham and Nottingham Forest, L’Equipe notes that at least one unnamed English club and a German club are also interested in him.
West Ham and Nottingham Forest appear to be competing on multiple fronts this summer, with several reported transfer battles between them.
