Çağlar Söyüncü ‘Must Leave’ – Atletico Madrid Sets Bargain Price One Year After Leicester Exit

Çağlar Söyüncü's transfer from relegated Leicester City to Atletico Madrid was a significant step for the player. Ambitious, yes, but a worthwhile attempt to prove himself at the highest level and in the Champions League.

The defender signed a four-year contract with Los Rojiblancos, but before completing even one year, he has been put up for sale.

Arriving from Leicester City with high expectations, Çağlar Söyüncü managed just six La Liga matches for Atletico Madrid, totaling a mere 115 minutes on the pitch. While injuries played a minor role, it is evident that manager Diego Simeone was not particularly impressed with him.

In the January transfer window, the 28-year-old was loaned to Fenerbahce, where he became a regular in the Turkish Super Lig. Now, as his loan period ends, Söyüncü is set to return to Atletico Madrid, who are looking to part ways with him permanently.

Tuesday’s edition of AS reports that the player “must leave” Los Rojiblancos. According to the Spanish newspaper, Atletico Madrid has set a price range of €8-12 million for him and is willing to listen to offers. A move on the lower end of that range seems plausible.

Given some of his more successful periods with Leicester City, Söyüncü might hope to attract interest from English clubs. His prior performances in the Premier League could revive his career, offering him a chance to prove his worth once more.
