Leicester City and Nottingham Forest favorite Wes Morgan once described Steve Cooper as the “greatest guy ever” while praising his achievements at the City Ground.
Cooper has now taken charge at the King Power Stadium, six months after leaving Forest. During his tenure there, he led the team from the bottom of the Championship to Premier League promotion and then ensured their survival in the top flight. His new task is to replicate that success with the Foxes, who are returning to the Premier League after winning promotion last season under former boss Enzo Maresca.
Morgan, who moved from Forest to Leicester in 2012 and captained the Foxes to their Premier League title in 2016, highly commended Cooper when he was still at Forest. Speaking about him last November, shortly before Cooper’s departure from the City Ground, he said: “I’ve been to a few Forest games, spoke to Steve Cooper, greatest guy ever.
“Done a great job for Forest getting them out of the Championship, from the position they were in, into the Premier League and survive that first season, this season and hopefully push on a little bit.”
