Bid Made: Leicester Submits Proposal Just £800k Below Release Clause for Copa America Star

Leicester eager to replace lost star
The major news from the King Power Stadium this summer has been the departure of star player Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Chelsea has agreed to a £30 million fee for the midfielder, leaving Leicester with a significant gap to fill in the midfield.
In exchange for Dewsbury-Hall, Chelsea has allowed Michael Golding to join Leicester in a reported £5 million move. While Golding is not a direct replacement, Leicester is actively seeking other targets to fill the midfield void.
Recent reports from Portuguese media suggest Leicester City is set to compete with Everton to sign Benfica’s Florentino Luis. Having already turned down a £25 million bid for Luis, Benfica may demand a substantial fee to part with the midfielder this summer.
While replacing outgoing stars is a priority, Leicester is also looking to strengthen Cooper’s squad in other areas.
Foxes just shy of star’s release clause
As reported by Sport Witness, Leicester City has made a bid of around £15 million for CA Talleres’ Ramon Sosa, which has been deemed too low by the club’s president. The report claims the club is holding out for a bid that matches the winger’s release clause of approximately £15.8 million.
Although Leicester should have no issue increasing their offer to meet the release clause, this initial bid suggests the club was testing the Paraguayan’s interest.
The left winger, capable of playing across the front three, had previously been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Leicester’s opening offer might have been a move to see if Wolves are still interested in the Paraguay international.
The 24-year-old winger garnered attention from England after a stellar season in Argentina, where he contributed 7 goals and 6 assists in the Argentine Primera División last campaign. His performances earned him a call-up to this summer’s Copa America, where he was named Paraguay’s player to watch by GOAL, alongside notable names like Brazil’s Endrick and Manchester United’s Argentina star Garnacho.
Although Paraguay has lost both of their opening games at the tournament, Sosa provided an assist in their 2-1 loss against Colombia. With Paraguay likely to exit at the group stage, now could be the opportune time for Leicester to meet the release clause and bring Sosa to the King Power Stadium this summer.
