Former Leeds United striker nearing transfer, promising financial boost

Leeds United will closely monitor Max Dean’s summer transfer developments. The 20-year-old forward appears destined for a move to Toulouse after the French club reached an agreement with Milton Keynes Dons for his transfer. Dean, who departed Elland Road in January 2023, seems poised for a new chapter abroad.

Initial reports indicated that Toulouse’s first bid for Dean was rejected, prompting them to return with an offer closer to Milton Keynes Dons’ valuation, reportedly around €2 million. The Ligue 1 side has been admirers of Dean for some time, having shown interest in acquiring him during the January transfer window.

Dean had a breakthrough season with Milton Keynes Dons, scoring an impressive 19 goals in 34 appearances, pivotal to the club’s qualification for the League Two play-offs. His stellar performances garnered widespread acclaim.

Milton Keynes Dons head coach Mike Williamson expressed admiration for Dean, stating, “We hold him in high regard, and his potential is limitless. However, given his standout performances last season, it’s inevitable that he attracts attention, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

If the Ormskirk-born Dean completes his move to France as reported, it could provide Leeds United manager Daniel Farke with an unexpected financial windfall. The Whites reportedly negotiated a favorable sell-on clause when Dean moved to Stadium MK last year, entitling them to 50% of any future transfer fee.

Dean was a regular fixture in Leeds United’s youth teams but did not make a senior appearance for the club. His potential move to Toulouse could see him reunite with former Leeds teammate Charlie Cresswell, who recently joined Toulouse in a £3.8 million deal.
