Breaking News: Leicester City Announce Fourth Summer Signing

Abdul Fatawu has officially completed his move to Leicester City on a permanent basis, signing a five-year contract with the club.

The 20-year-old winger, who played a pivotal role in City’s Championship triumph while on loan from Sporting Lisbon, joins in a £14m transfer that has delighted supporters. Known for his dribbling skills, speed, attacking prowess, and defensive work rate, Fatawu quickly became a fan favorite.

Initially expected to be City’s first summer signing, the deal was confirmed by Sporting manager Ruben Amorim in early May, and Fatawu himself had been hinting at the move on social media in recent weeks.

Fatawu becomes the fourth addition to City’s squad, following Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Michael Golding, and Caleb Okoli. Wilfred Ndidi has also extended his contract, solidifying Steve Cooper’s squad five weeks ahead of the new Premier League season.

Last season, Fatawu contributed significantly to the attack with seven goals and 13 assists. His standout performance came during City’s title-winning campaign when he scored a hat-trick in a 5-0 victory over Southampton.

Before joining City on loan, Fatawu had minimal senior football experience in Europe, making his rapid impact all the more impressive. Recruitment chief Martyn Glover received praise from former manager Enzo Maresca for identifying and bringing Fatawu to the club.
