### Dharmesh Sheth Provides Everton Transfer Update
On the Sky Sports News’ Transfer Talk podcast, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, joined by journalist Sam Tighe, discussed the latest transfer news, particularly Amadou Onana’s proposed transfer to Aston Villa, which is expected to be finalized soon.
The Belgian midfielder has expressed his desire to leave Goodison Park. By selling him to the Villans, Everton will receive a substantial fee, while the 22-year-old will gain the Champions League football he seeks.
Sheth remarked, “Just sticking on the Villa theme here. Potentially a huge deal between two Premier League clubs. Everton selling Amadou Onana for a fee in the region of £50m to Aston Villa. We know Douglas Luiz has gone to Juventus. Is this a good fit for Aston Villa, or will they have to potentially play in a different way?”
Tighe explained Villa’s interest: “Yeah, so it’s obviously not a like-for-like replacement. He’s over a foot taller for a start. Very different players, but I like to think Villa have planned this one very well. They didn’t want to say goodbye to Luiz, but they’ve had to and will need to figure a way around that. Many have been asking this summer who’s going to be the replacement. Who are they going to buy? I think they bought him last year—Youri Tielemans.”
### Amadou Onana’s Sale Will Fund Everton’s Summer
Amadou Onana’s departure, fetching around £50 million, will be significant for Everton. Despite being one of the hottest young talents in European football, he didn’t quite prove his worth at Everton. Onana struggled to fit into Sean Dyche’s system and failed to fully showcase his talents, a shortcoming that was mutual.
For Dyche, obtaining such a substantial sum for a player not central to his plans is a major win. This sale will significantly boost Everton’s net profit for transfers this summer and provide essential funds, especially with Dan Friedkin’s takeover of the club stalling, to continue their spending.
Onana’s sale is set to support Dyche and Thelwell’s ambitious plans for a club overhaul.
