Everton Could Gain Up to £28m After Deal, Says Stefan Borson

Everton to Receive Major PSR Boost from Amadou Onana Sale to Aston Villa

Finance expert Stefan Borson has exclusively informed Football Insider that Everton could realize a potential PSR profit of £25-28 million once Amadou Onana completes his move to Aston Villa.

On 15 July, Football Insider reported that Onana had agreed to personal terms with Villa, paving the way for his £50 million transfer.

Despite interest from several top clubs, the West Midlands team appears poised to secure the Belgian midfielder’s signature. Everton, seeking to improve their financial situation after an eight-point deduction last season for breaching Premier League spending rules, are ready to sell the 22-year-old.

They were close to breaching the PSR rules again in the 2023-24 season, but this sale is expected to help them comply, provided they don’t lose their capitalisation case.

Borson explained that the Onana deal would give Sean Dyche’s squad a substantial PSR profit at the start of the new financial year. He stated, “It will be a big boost because the profit is quite big on him.

It may be that the initial payment is not £50 million and is a bit lower. But if it was £50 million, you are looking at a £25-28 million PSR profit straight in.”
