Everton Confirm Fourth Signing with Target ‘Scheduled for Medical’ as Double Defender Acquisition Is Considered

Everton are poised to secure a season-long loan for Napoli’s Jesper Lindstrom, with the winger reportedly traveling to undergo a medical ahead of the move.

According to recent reports, the Toffees are aiming to make up to three signings this week, with manager Sean Dyche targeting two new wingers and a defensive midfielder.

Sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Lindstrom is a key target for Everton. Reputable journalist Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Lindstrom is set to have his medical on Merseyside.

The deal will see Lindstrom join Everton on a season-long loan, with an option to buy for €22 million (£18.5 million). The Toffees will also pay a €3 million (£2.5 million) loan fee to secure the transfer. Fabrizio Romano has since confirmed these details, suggesting that the move is close to being finalized.

The 24-year-old Lindstrom struggled to make an impact at Napoli last season, failing to contribute goals or assists.

However, he had a successful stint at Eintracht Frankfurt before his Napoli move, where he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 80 appearances. Dyche will be hoping that Lindstrom, a self-confessed Liverpool supporter, can rediscover his form at Goodison Park this season.

In addition to Lindstrom, TEAMtalk reports that Everton are in discussions to acquire Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds and Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City, with Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu also on their radar.

Everton are also seeking defensive reinforcements and have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Galatasaray centre-back Davinson Sanchez.

The Colombian, who previously played for Tottenham, is open to a Premier League return after leaving Spurs last summer. Despite being regarded as one of Europe’s most promising defenders when he signed for Tottenham in 2017, Sanchez struggled with consistency.

Sanchez was a regular under Mauricio Pochettino but fell out of favor and eventually joined Galatasaray in an £8 million deal. The 28-year-old has returned to form in Turkey, making 34 appearances last season, scoring three goals, and contributing to nine clean sheets.

TEAMtalk has confirmed that Everton are keen to add a new centre-back following the sale of Ben Godfrey to Atalanta. Reports suggest Everton have already made a £15 million bid for Sanchez, and Galatasaray is now reportedly willing to sell, according to Sporx. It remains to be seen if Everton will make a renewed bid as Sean Dyche looks to strengthen his defensive options.

Although Sanchez’s time at Tottenham was less than stellar, Pochettino once praised his potential. “I like his personality and how he is aggressive; he is fast and will fit very well for us,” Pochettino said when Spurs signed Sanchez in 2017. “It’s a massive opportunity because we believe he will be one of the best centre-backs in the world in the future.”

Everton are also in the market for a new right-back. Currently, Dyche’s options include veterans Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, as well as Nathan Patterson. Patterson, 22, has shown promise but has struggled to secure a regular spot, making only 10 Premier League starts last season.

Everton are interested in adding competition in this position, with Hellas Verona’s Jackson Tchatchoua heavily linked to a move. The 22-year-old is considered one of Serie A’s most promising full-backs and made 27 appearances last season, providing two assists.

Reports from Italy suggest that Everton had an €8 million (£6.7 million) bid, plus €2 million (£1.7 million) in add-ons, rejected by Hellas Verona. The Serie A side is reportedly seeking a €10 million (£8.4 million) straight fee for Tchatchoua, meaning Everton are just €1.7 million short of meeting their valuation.

The situation with Tchatchoua will be closely watched in the coming days as Dyche is eager to bring in new players as quickly as possible.
