Yilmaz is a terrific talent, but it’s his attitude and application that make him ideal for Lopetegui’s setup. It’s rare these days to find attacking players with both skill and a strong work ethic.
Last season, he scored seven goals and provided 12 assists in 55 games for Galatasaray and impressed for Turkey at Euro 2024 in Germany.
Yilmaz has pace in abundance, is incredibly tenacious, has fantastic dribbling ability, and delivers in the final third.
The 24-year-old would be perfect for the left wing position but can also play on the right or through the middle as a striker if needed.
West Ham paying £30 million for Galatasaray’s Baris Alper Yilmaz seems like excellent value. The fact that he’s learning English to facilitate a move to the Premier League speaks volumes about his mentality.
