Report: West Ham Set for New Talks to Sign ‘Outrageous’ Forward, Negotiating Personal Terms
West Ham United have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Leeds sensation Crysencio Summerville this summer, according to Caught Offside.
The Leeds star is expected to leave Elland Road after their failure to secure promotion to the Premier League, despite his impressive 21 goals leading them to the playoff final.
Multiple clubs have shown interest in the Dutch winger, but West Ham has taken the lead in the race to secure his signature.
West Ham Opens Talks for Summerville
West Ham is actively pursuing a deal for the 22-year-old, whom Elland Road legend Jermaine Beckford has praised as “absolutely outrageous.”
Currently, West Ham is the only club to have made a “convincing offer” to Leeds, despite reported interest from Brighton, Chelsea, and Newcastle United during the transfer window.
Hammers’ officials are negotiating personal terms with Summerville, and further discussions with Leeds are expected to finalize the deal.
Although Chelsea has been heavily linked with Summerville, they have yet to make any contact regarding a transfer this summer.
Leeds are demanding between £35-40 million to let him go this summer, according to GMS sources, after selling teenage sensation Archie Gray and midfielder Glen Kamara to raise funds.
Julen Lopetegui Wants New Attacker Options
West Ham has been active in the transfer market this summer, spending significantly to bring in Max Kilman for £40 million from Wolves, Wes Foderingham as a goalkeeper, and Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for around £30 million.
However, manager Julen Lopetegui is eager to bolster his attacking options amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of strikers Michail Antonio and Danny Ings.
Jarrod Bowen was the starting center-forward for much of the 2023/24 campaign under David Moyes, scoring 20 goals in all competitions.
However, Bowen prefers to play on the right-wing, necessitating the addition of a new striker.
If Lopetegui decides to use Bowen as a striker again, Summerville could provide competition on the wings for Mohammed Kudus and new signing Guilherme.
According to GMS sources, Summerville is “perfectly content” to remain at Elland Road if a deal cannot be reached with another club.
