Report: West Ham’s Proposal Most Attractive to Midfielder Praised as ‘Amazing’ by Lionel Messi

West Ham United Suffer Major Setback in Summer Transfer Plans After Promising Start to the Window

Julen Lopetegui has recently taken charge at West Ham and is making swift moves to shape the squad to his liking.

To bolster the defense, he has already secured Max Kilman, bringing in a reliable player to strengthen the backline.

However, West Ham’s pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui has hit a snag. The move for Mazraoui has collapsed, and Manchester United is now making a late push for the defender.

Despite this setback, West Ham remains undeterred and continues to pursue other significant signings from top European clubs.

West Ham Eye Ambitious Move for Barcelona Midfielder

Currently, West Ham is in the United States for pre-season friendlies, as they prepare for the upcoming season. With several new players and a new manager on board, the focus now is on hard work and preparation. The season opener against Aston Villa is fast approaching.

Ironically, West Ham now finds itself competing with Aston Villa for the signature of one of their summer targets, Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto. According to Catalunya Radio, West Ham is interested in making a move for the versatile 32-year-old.

However, West Ham is not alone in their pursuit. Aston Villa and Ajax are also reportedly interested in Roberto, with Arsenal also linked with a potential move.

Roberto, who has primarily played in midfield, has also demonstrated his versatility by performing well as a right-back.

Lionel Messi’s Praise for Sergi Roberto

Roberto has accumulated 373 appearances for Barcelona, contributing 19 goals and 43 assists. Over his tenure at the Nou Camp, he has played alongside some of football’s greatest legends.

Notably, Lionel Messi has spoken highly of Roberto, praising him for his performances.

In 2018, after a memorable victory over PSG, Messi remarked, “You have become one of the best right-backs in the world. The moment you made us live was amazing, because of how it came to be, it was impressive.”

Though Roberto is 32 years old, his extensive experience and proven ability would make him a valuable addition to the West Ham squad.
