Leicester City and West Ham United Initiate Talks for Reiss Nelson, but Arsenal Await Bids
Ryan Taylor of the Mirror reports that Arsenal aims to sign a winger this summer, contingent on Reiss Nelson’s future.
Arsenal is open to selling Nelson for the right price, and both Leicester City and West Ham United have shown initial interest. However, Arsenal has yet to receive any formal bids from either club.
Reports suggest neither Leicester nor West Ham are currently willing to meet Arsenal’s asking price.
Fabrizio Romano indicated that Leicester wanted a loan deal with an obligation to buy, while The West Ham Way reported that Nelson’s price is too high for the Hammers, especially after their agreement to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United.
Initially, David Ornstein reported that Arsenal sought around £20 million, including add-ons, for Nelson.
Later, Sam Dean suggested that the player could be available for £15 million to £20 million. Nelson’s contract with Arsenal runs until 2027, with an option to extend to 2028, so there is no urgent need for the club to sell.
Despite the transfer speculation, Nelson continues to participate regularly in pre-season games under Mikel Arteta, indicating that a move is not imminent.
Nevertheless, Nelson played only 639 minutes for Arsenal’s first team in the 2023/24 season, suggesting that an eventual transfer might be beneficial for his career.
