Major West Ham Update: Fabrizio Romano Delivers ‘Here We Go’ for Bundesliga Striker Signing

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that West Ham United have made a significant breakthrough in their search for a striker, with a major European star set to join the club.
The arrival of former Spain, Real Madrid, and Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui marks a new chapter at West Ham, following the departure of David Moyes at the end of last season. Moyes faced criticism for his style of play, leading to his exit.
Under Lopetegui, West Ham has already secured the signing of defender Max Kilman, whom Lopetegui previously managed at Molineux. Additionally, Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville is reportedly close to joining.
Now, West Ham is set to add an experienced forward to their ranks, with Romano announcing the imminent arrival of Germany and Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Füllkrug.
Füllkrug, 31, netted 15 goals for Dortmund last season, including three goals that helped the club reach the Champions League final, where they were defeated by Real Madrid.
Dortmund has confirmed that Füllkrug has left their training camp to discuss terms with “another club.” He currently has two years remaining on his contract at Signal Iduna Park.
Lopetegui has expressed his satisfaction with working closely on team improvement and player development, focusing his efforts on the training pitch rather than solely on recruitment.
“I am very happy to be the head coach. It’s a very demanding role, and I will dedicate all my time to enhancing my team and my players. While I am involved in all areas of the club, my primary job is to improve the team,” Lopetegui said.
He added, “I work closely with the performance director [Tim Steidten], but everyone understands their responsibilities. It’s crucial because developing players’ mentality and tactics takes months, not days.”
As West Ham closes in on Füllkrug, Dortmund has bolstered their attacking options by signing Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart.
Guirassy’s impressive season contributed to Dortmund’s Champions League qualification, making them well-prepared for Füllkrug’s potential departure.
Despite this, Nuri Sahin, who took over as Dortmund boss this summer, had previously stated he valued both Füllkrug and Guirassy, indicating room for both in his plans.
Lopetegui’s first Premier League match with West Ham is scheduled against Aston Villa on August 17.
