Everton’s Former Chief Keith Wyness Reveals Sean Dyche Aims to Display a “More Attacking” Style in Third Season
On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old former Everton CEO and current football consultant suggested that new signing Jake O’Brien might prompt manager Sean Dyche to switch to a three-man defense.
Everton announced O’Brien’s signing on Tuesday, July 30, with the 23-year-old defender agreeing to a four-year contract with the club.
According to Football Insider, as of Sunday, July 28, O’Brien has been brought in to play alongside Jarrad Branthwaite, not as a replacement.
In addition to O’Brien, Dyche’s side has secured permanent deals for Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam this summer. Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison have also joined the squad on loan.
Wyness stated on the podcast: “O’Brien provides the option to deploy a three-man defense.
We’ll see what formation Dyche prefers. He’s been working hard and is determined to bring a more attacking style to the team this season.”
