Wow: Leicester in Talks to Hijack Crystal Palace’s Target, Report Claims

In an unexpected development, Leicester City are reportedly working on a deal to hijack Crystal Palace’s move for a new winger, targeting a player with Premier League experience.

As the Premier League season opener nears, Leicester is busy wrapping up transfers, with Facundo Buonanotte reportedly set to join on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

This would mark the fifth signing of the summer for manager Steve Cooper.

However, Leicester may not stop at five new arrivals. They have been linked with Fabio Carvalho, who has impressed during pre-season with Liverpool.

Carvalho could seek more regular playing time at Leicester, potentially joining alongside another high-profile addition.

According to David Ornstein and Adam Leventhal of The Athletic, Leicester is negotiating to sign Wilfried Zaha from Galatasaray.

The move could see Leicester secure Zaha’s services ahead of Crystal Palace, whose attempt to re-sign their former star has reportedly fallen through, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Zaha’s arrival would be a significant boost for Leicester, providing a marquee signing that could help ensure their survival in the Premier League.

The former Palace forward is well-versed in battling relegation and leading teams to safety, skills he demonstrated extensively during his time at Selhurst Park.

“Excellent” Zaha would meet Leicester’s criteria for new signings perfectly. With ample Premier League experience and the ability to make an immediate impact, Zaha would be a valuable asset.

His previous manager, Roy Hodgson, praised him highly, noting his impressive performances and the challenges he posed to opponents.

Hodgson remarked after Zaha scored in a 2020 win over Fulham: “He’s an excellent player and that’s what he’s capable of doing. When he’s on top of his game, he’s a very hard player to stop.”

The prospect of Jamie Vardy potentially finishing his Premier League career with Zaha alongside him in Leicester’s attack is certainly appealing.

With only a few weeks left in the summer transfer window, Leicester must act swiftly to secure these deals.
