Leeds Eye Move for Rangers Attacker – Report

Leeds United Interested in Signing Rangers Winger Rabbi Matondo, According to Football Scotland

According to reports from 15 August, the 23-year-old Rabbi Matondo is expected to be among the players leaving Rangers this summer, along with Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi.

Leeds United, who have previously shown interest in the Welsh forward, are now a serious contender for his signature as they aim for promotion to the Premier League.

Matondo’s departure from Ibrox would likely go unnoticed by many, as Leeds’ interest is genuine.

The Wales international has struggled to meet expectations during his two seasons in Scotland after joining from Schalke in the summer of 2022.

He has managed only six goals in 62 appearances for Rangers, with many of those appearances coming off the bench under Philippe Clement last season.

Injuries have significantly impacted Matondo’s time at Ibrox, causing him to miss 19 games for both club and country.

Despite showing glimpses of his ability, such as scoring a stunning goal against Celtic late last season, his overall inconsistency has made him a less prominent figure at Rangers.

Given Leeds’ interest, it seems unlikely that Clement would want to retain Matondo, making this summer an ideal opportunity for Rangers to sell the forward.
