Sean Dyche Offers Candid Take on Everton Contract Discussions

Everton manager Sean Dyche has revealed that there have been no discussions about a potential new contract for him to continue as Blues boss when the club moves into their new stadium next summer.

Everton kicks off their historic final season at Goodison Park today as they host Brighton & Hove Albion.

Despite entering the final 12 months of his current deal, Dyche remains unfazed about his own future impacting the upcoming campaign.

Dyche became the eighth Everton manager in as many years under Farhad Moshiri when he replaced Frank Lampard on January 30, 2023.

The decision to appoint him was reportedly pushed by the club’s late chairman Bill Kenwright, rather than the majority shareholder, who preferred Marcelo Bielsa until the veteran Argentine coach expressed his desire to work with the reserve team until the summer.

Given the managerial churn during Moshiri’s troubled tenure, Dyche only needs to take charge of half a dozen more fixtures to become the longest-serving manager of Goodison Park’s home dugout under the Monaco-based businessman.

However, with the club’s ownership issue unresolved, he remains relaxed about his own position.

Asked about his contract, Dyche said: “I have not mentioned it to them, and they have not mentioned it to me.

I am well aware of the club, I am well aware of the predicament. The last thing on my mind is my situation.

“There is a much bigger picture than my situation, and that is the club. I have always maintained that.

“The team, the club, and the current situation are calmer, I am sure we would all agree on that, but still not solved and still not sorted.

That won’t be an issue for me at the moment. I will keep doing what I do, and that is working hard.”
