Sunderland target Manuel Benson is reportedly “about to leave” Burnley, according to recent reports.
Last week, the Black Cats were linked to the Belgian winger through an update from Daily Express journalist Charlie Gordon.
The reporter mentioned on social media that Sunderland, along with Championship rivals Leeds United and Norwich City, had a “concrete interest” in the wide man.
Benson is reportedly seeking regular first-team football in the final weeks of the transfer window after falling down the pecking order at Turf Moor.
In a new report, journalist Sacha Tavolieri suggests that the 27-year-old is set to leave Burnley, with Sunderland still in the race for his signature.
Tavolieri posted on social media, stating, “Manuel Benson is about to leave Burnley this summer!
Talks on a permanent move are ongoing, with Leeds United showing significant interest. Sunderland and Norwich City (if Jonathan Rowe departs…) are also in the mix. Personal terms won’t be an issue. Wait and see…”
Leeds United, in particular, are believed to be keen on signing a winger before the transfer window closes, following the departure of Crysencio Summerville to Premier League side West Ham.
Leeds has recently been linked with Sunderland’s star Jack Clarke and Norwich’s Jonathan Rowe, but whether they will shift their focus to Benson remains uncertain.
As of now, there is no information regarding Burnley’s asking price for Benson’s transfer.
