The Winger Praises His New Coach, Creditting Him for Monday Night's Strong Second-Half Performance
Abdul Fatawu has credited Steve Cooper’s half-time team talk as the turning point for Leicester City’s improved second-half performance against Spurs.
The 20-year-old played a key role in Jamie Vardy’s 57th-minute equalizer, delivering a precise cross that Vardy headed in to level the score.
In the first half, the Foxes appeared sluggish, allowing Spurs to dominate possession.
However, Fatawu revealed that the new Leicester manager shifted the atmosphere in the dressing room during the break.
Speaking to Leicester City’s official website, he said: “It’s about the coach. In the second half, he spoke to us in the dressing room about how to make things easier for ourselves as a team.
We followed his advice, and I believe that’s why we improved in the game.
“Especially how we played, it’ll boost our confidence. We know we can give more. This game will teach us more tactics.
I think we’re going to do more and show more to get better.”
The Ghanaian also discussed his connection with Vardy, adding, “Anytime I get the ball, I think of him and where to place it for him to score.
Fortunately, it happened again today, and I’m so happy.”
Fatawu hopes his first Premier League assist is a sign of more to come this season.
Leicester made it a priority to sign him permanently after an impressive loan spell last season, where he contributed six goals and 13 assists in their Championship-winning campaign.
