‘We Want…’ – Leeds International Makes New Transfer Admission Ahead of August 30 Deadline

Ethan Ampadu Hopes Leeds United Sign "Big Characters" Before the August 30 Transfer Deadline

Wales international Ethan Ampadu has been named captain for Leeds United this season, playing in all three of the team’s opening matches in the Championship and Carabao Cup under Daniel Farke.

Fans and pundits have criticized Leeds for their lack of signings following several high-profile departures.

However, Ampadu believes this is just part of the football landscape.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds (20 August), Ampadu said, “In any season, not just at Leeds, every football club experiences player movement.

When you’re in football, you understand that nothing is finalized until the transfer window closes.

It’s never easy to lose players, and we wish the best to those who move on. Likewise, any new arrivals are welcomed as part of our fight for success.

“We’ve done well to maintain a close-knit group regardless of who’s here. We all get along, and while we’ll miss some big characters, hopefully, new ones will come in.

“It’s a really good atmosphere, which might seem surprising given the outgoings, but this group is united, and we’re all fighting for the same goal.”

Are Leeds United Close to Making New Signings?

Ampadu’s comments suggest that even within Elland Road, there’s a recognition that new additions are needed before the transfer window closes.

Farke has already lost key players like Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, and Archie Gray this season, with only the teenager having been replaced so far.

Leeds appears particularly thin in attack, a situation that must be addressed before the end of August if the team is to sustain its promotion push in the coming months.

Fans and Ampadu alike hope that new signings will arrive soon, allowing Farke to refresh the squad after so many significant departures.
